Laser Collimator Box

  • Description: Designed and assembled custom sheet aluminum hemmed enclosure with placement of high intensity isolated lasers, diode collimation components, hardware, and EMF isolation and thermal management devices. Successfully tested in-field laser laparoscope connection with image isolation at the hardware level. Very fine tuning of component tolerances and EMF regulatory adjustments at the hardware level. Involved GD&T at the print level.

  • Big Result: The startup – now thrice its size since my leave – is still using the laser collimator box stackup as the basis for pre-clinical work to showcase laser laparoscopic capabilities in vivo, saving potentially thousands of lives against surgical complication risks year over year.
